Welcome to Ghent international students!
Welcome to Ghent: Your Ultimate Cheat Sheet for an Epic Semester!
So, you’ve made the genius decision to spend a semester in Ghent? Great call. This city has it all—history, nightlife, waffles (very important), and loads of cool, budget-friendly spots to keep you going. But finding your way in a new city? Kinda stressful. That’s why we made this guide.
What we're about?
Think of us as your fun, slightly chaotic Ghent insiders. Our goal? Help you understand everything about the city and enjoy this city without emptying your wallet (too fast). We’re all about affordable eats, cozy cafés, quirky hangouts, how to get around and hidden gems that don’t cost a fortune.
Fair warning though: if you follow every recommendation in here every single day, you might still go broke. So maybe don’t do that. Unless you enjoy living off pasta and vibes.
Our vibe: light red, dark red, yellow, and a friendly dragon who shows you the way. Yes, a dragon. Ghent has one, and now you do too.
Follow the Dragon of Ghent, stick to the red-and-yellow trail, and make this semester one to remember. It’s gonna be messy, fun, a little weird—and totally worth it. See you out there! 🇧🇪

Why did we made this?
We’re three girls who’ve been in your shoes—excited, a little lost, and trying not to spend our entire budget in the first week.
Two of us came here on Erasmus and quickly realized how tricky it was to find the good stuff without breaking the bank. Everything looked fun, but not everything was worth your time (or money). We wanted something that actually spoke to students like us—fun, helpful, and real. So, we made the guide we wish we had.
